We've lured him from Baltimore, where Tommy Sheldon specializes in product, portrait, and landscape photography. Direct, often whimsical results follow. Tommy was also the collaborator on the recent Chairloom ad (first picture below) which was featured in the most recent issue of Lonny Magazine (see page 60).

Up-Cycling Done Right From Groundwork
The industrial, repurposed aesthetic is something I've been fond of for a long time, so I am of course thrilled at our newest seller debuting on May 9th - Groundwork. Ernie Sesskin and his partner Brian Foster design pieces using industrial and architectural salvage which are then built with integrity by Amish woodworkers and metal smiths.
“Objects that were made for function rather than style and form have an inherent authenticity," says Brian. "There’s nothing more satisfying than repurposing them into something that’s relevant for contemporary use”. These pieces are truly one-of-a-kind, with a patina and history that can never be found in a catalog.

A quick and easy spruce-up
So this was my 20 minute project inspired by my purchase at last Sunday's market. Take one ottoman as is from Kitsch-N-Kaboodle (cost $40), add a graphic and fun fabric remnant from work, and voila, one freshened up little footstool. Did anyone else have a great find from last weekend?

April 25th Market Recap
Huge props to the core group of hearty sellers who braved the chilly and cloudy (but not rainy!) weather Sunday for our second market. It's tough to be outside for 7+ hours on a day like that, so we REALLY appreciate everyone who came out to support us and to purchase from our sellers. It makes a day like that totally worthwhile. There were some great items to be found, so in case you missed it, here are a few of my favorites from the day.
Salvation Nation's vintage necklace tree
A few of the MANY goodies from Nannygoat
Acrylic painting by Claire Meyers
Vintage industrial coffee table from Olde Good Things
An original wicker chair with brand new cushions from Cottage
Sampling the amazing cookies from Andy B's - coming to the May 8 opening day of the Bryn Mawr Farmers' Market. I personally polished off a dozen of them by the end of the day.
Hand-painted tole trays at Kitsch-N-Kaboodle
I wish I had a place in my home for this beautiful black dresser
Market munchkins!
Super sweet garden ornaments
Lesley Haas' handmade paper art
Really interesting vintage double sided trolley sign from Cottage
Many tin ceiling tiles and mirrors from Olde Good Things
For the typography nuts - red letters from an old Texaco sign
Fun painted furniture from Nannygoat
This little one spent about half an hour in front of the mirror - so cute.
And the new Clover Market eco-friendly jute tote. These were done by Justin Cohen of marketing strategy and promotions firm Mix Marketing in Ardmore. LOVE THESE BAGS!
We will be back in action on May 9th. Personally, I can't think of a better Mother's Day present than to bring (or free up) your special mom, aunt, sister, friend, daughter, or grandmother to come out to the Market for a fun day of shopping. Maybe brunch in Ardmore before or after? Perfection.

Sat Evening Update
Keeping a close eye on the weather tonight and early tomorrow morning. Right now the forecast calls for rain ending in the early AM, then some "spotty showers" during the day. If that's the case, we're a "go"...get your boots and raincoats ready and please come out and support our sellers! You can check back here Sunday morning for the final word....should have the final decision posted by 8 am.

Rain, Rain.....Stay Away
Well, the weather is currently looking a little iffy for Sunday morning so I wanted to clarify our plans. While we're technically a "rain or shine" event, we're really talking about a sprinkle or light shower, especially since we're dealing in art and furniture, not fruits and veggies! We will have to call things off if the weather calls for heavy or persistent rain or dangerous weather (wind, lighting....you get the picture). SO, your best bet is to check back here or to the Facebook page Sunday morning - I will post any cancellations by 8 am. Collective prayer for sun, everyone!!!

For a little visual slice of our opening day, including our surprise local celeb shopper, check out this great segment from the April 17th "FYI Philly" program. A huge thank you to Adam Joseph and his crew for coming to Ardmore for opening day and helping to spread the word about the Market. Come back again soon!

Opening Day Slideshow
Carla Zambelli is a photographer, local blogger and community activist, and has always been a huge supporter of Clover Market. I think she really captured the fun, relaxed atmosphere of our first day and the variety of wonderful things for sale. A few of my favorite pictures are below and at right in the slideshow - you can check out the full set here.
